Sustainable livelihoods

LDS is dedicated to creating positive change in selected communities across Zimbabwe through crucial focus in: gender justice, social justice, wealth and wellbeing and disaster response. It aims at creating a society where everyone has equal opportunities and lives in harmony

objectives

Empowering Youth and Women: We believe in the power of young people and women. Through our programs, we empower them to establish and run successful income-generating projects, fostering self-reliance and economic independence.

Strengthening Households: We work towards creating stronger household value chains. By doing so, we help households withstand vulnerabilities and overcome challenges.

Climate Change Resilience: We focus on building coping mechanisms and adapting to the effects of climate change. Our aim is to help communities become more resilient in the face of environmental challenges.

Environmental Stewardship: We promote improved practices in environmental management. By encouraging sustainable approaches, we protect natural resources and create a healthier environment.

Advocacy for the Vulnerable: We strive for meaningful change at a larger scale. We work towards influencing policies and practices to prioritise the needs of vulnerable and marginalised communities.

Vision & Values

Empowering Youth and Women

LDS works with Mushagashe amd Pangani Vocational Training Center in empowerment and skills development program targeting disadvantaged youths.

Strengthening Households

Our commitment to transformation extends beyond paprika and garlic. On our horticulture plot, we have flourishing crops of butternuts and maize, covering another half-hectare, further enhancing food security and economic opportunity for the community.

Advocacy for the Vulnerable

Sustainable livelihoods is to support selected vulnerable communities to enhance their resilience.

Climate Change Resilience

There is an inspiring tale of resilience and transformation against all odds. In our vibrant community, 300 visionary farmers took a leap of faith and embraced the power of climate-resilient crops. They are united in cultivating smile sorghum and cowpeas, seeds that hold the secret to thriving in challenging climates.
